Week 17

Title: Submission of Final Year Report (Hardcover)

Objective: To submit the hardcover of final year report thesis

Progress:
               For this week, I went to the a shop named DM Master Copy at Plaza Idaman to produce the hardcover for my final year report. After three days of producing my final year report, the hardcover was finally finished. All the specifications and format was printed nicely. After that, I went to see my supervisor Sir Safyzan to get her signature inside the hardcover. Then, I went to see Madam Marwangi to check my hardcover. This is the process that I need to face. She will check the plagiarism of my final year report and need to sign it. She also checked the format of my report. If there is any problem with the format and specification of the hardcover, she will asked to readjust or re-print the hardcover. Alhamdulillah, my hardcover report was a success. After seeing Madam Marwangi, I went to the final part of the report submission that is to the library of Unikl Bmi. The staff of the library will recheck all the signature and the plagiarism. If there is no problem with it, the staff will consider that my hardcover report can now be submit.

Week 16

Title: Making a Complete Report

Objective: To make a complete final year report for hardcover

Progress:
                  This week, I make the final adjustment for my report. This week, I focused on the making of table of contents, list of figures, front page for hardcover and some more adjustment. These parts is important because I need to follow the criteria of making a complete final year report based on the criteria stated in the Final Year Unikl BMI website. For list of figures, I need to make the descriptions of each figures identical as the description in the report. For the hardcover front page, I also need to design it based on the final year report template that already given in the website. Hence, I need to follow all the instruction to design the front page including the declaration page. This page is to acknowledge that I managed to make this final year report for this semester. Figure 1 and 2 shows the progress that i made this week.


Conclusion:
By the end of this week, I finally managed to make a complete final year report from the front page until the appendices.

Week 15

Title: Progress Report

Objective: To make changes in the Final Year Report

Progress:
        For this week, I make big adjustments in my final year report. This is because the last semester report was just the proposal about my project. This semester, I need to make the full report based on the prototype that I had done for my presentation last week. I focused on chapter 3 and chapter 4. These chapters are the crucial chapter because it contains all the materials and methodology and also contains the actual results. 

        For the previous semester, in chapter 4, I only put the preliminary results. For this semester, I need to put the actual results about my final year project. Besides that, I also add new components in chapter 3. In chapter 3, I stated the steps in executing my prototype from the coding progress, circuit progress and until the hardware installation and construction.

Conclusion:
As the conclusion, I managed to finished making the final adjustment in my final year report. These adjustment really stated on how my project operates and the inside of my prototype design.

Week 14

Title: Final Year Presentation Day

Objective: To present the poster and the function of the project.

Progress:
               This week is the presentation week. I need to present the project to my assessors on Wednesday. Final preparation is very crucial for this week. I need to make sure that the project can function well on Wednesday.

                During the presentation day, I was assessed by two assessors. One is from the electrical section and the other one is from the industry. After 10 minutes of poster presentation. I continued with the demo pf my project. The demo went well. The assessors also give me some advice about the project, They want me to make the project that are fully using the solar power so that the battery can be recharged by the energy from the solar.



Conclusion: 
 By the end of the day, I managed to get through from the hardest part of this semester presentation that is final year presentation.  I was grateful that the presentation went really well.

Week 13

Title: Testing and Troubleshooting

Objective: To test the functionality of my project

Progress:
               This week, I need to test the functionality of my project after installed in the prototype. I combined all the circuits into the tupperware. This to save some space for the prototype. I also adjust the coding so that I can get the best output result on the LCD. Based on my coding, the temperature has been set for the fan to turn are at 31 degree celsius and for the peltier to turn on are at 32 degree celsius. The test are run for three different days. The first and the second day come out with unsatisfied result but on the third day, the result obtained are satisfied.

Week 12

Title: Making The Presentation's Poster

Objective: To design the poster for the presentation day

Progress: 
                This week, I need to design the poster for the presentation day that are in two weeks time. The poster need to include the objectives of the project, project descriptions, methodology, flowchart, results, conclusion and references. At first, I started with the objectives, project descriptions, conclusion and references. Later on, I continue with the methodology, flowchart and the results. These parts play important roles to make my poster presentation strong in front of the assessors during the day of the presentation. 

                 I make draft of the poster first and showed to my supervisor. She corrected the parts that  are wrong in my poster. After fixing the poster, I continued to show my supervisor the latest design of my poster. 


Conclusion:
By the end of this week, I finished to design my poster and printed out for the the presentation day.

Week 11

Title: Making the Prototype

Objective: To make the prototype of the project

Progress: 
                This week, I started to make the prototype of the project. I mainly used PVC pipe as the main structure of the project. I make the PVC pipe for the flow of the air. The peltier is place under the pipe and the pipe is placed between the fan so the flow of the air will focus through the pipe and the air are flow out using another fan. The circuit is place under the pipe so it can not be disturbed by the flow of the air. The picture below will show the PVC which are placed inside the tupperware.



Conclusion:
 As the conclusion, I managed to make the prototype of my final year project. It took me all week long to finally finished making the hardware.

Week 10

Title: Hardware Design

Objective: To design the hardware of the project


Progress:
                For this week, i have design roughly according to the circuit that i have done in proteus. After i have done the circuit, i put the circuit in a tupperware which is big enough to insert the circuit and the design must be in a portable prototype. The picture shown below are the circuit layout and also the design of the project:





The portable prototype are much easier to be design and carry so thats why the design has to be in the tupperware.

Conclusion:
As the conclusion, by the end of this week, I managed to get my design for the final year project for this semester.

Week 9

Title: Electronic shop at Jalan Pasar and pizo electronic

Objective: To buy the components for this project.

Progress:
                This week, me and my friends went to Jalan Pasar and pizo electronic at shah alam to buy the components for my final year project. By this week, I need to buy the main components because it is quite hard to find. I managed to find a store that have all the main components for my project. The price here is quite cheaper compared to other stores that I went. Basically, for this week, I went to  nixie electronic shop at Jalan Pasar 5 times because when i get back home, there are always new ideas for the hardware and the components I will be using.  Below are few pictures that as the prove.








Conclusion: 
As the conclusion, I can now construct the circuit on the board and begin my hardware making.

Week 8

Title: Software Simulation

Objective: To simulate the circuit

Progress:

The simulation for the development being tested, so the hardware can be determined based on the simulation. The component listed are arrange according its specification. The Peltier cell is not found in the Proteus 8, so it been replace with relay. The relay will switch when the LM35 detect temperature above 30 degree Celsius. The second relay will act as the Peltier cell which it will switch on when the temperature detect is above 31 degree Celsius.



The first and second relay will turn off when the LM35 detect the temperature below 30 degree celsius. 


Conclusion: 
By the end of this week, I managed to simulate my circuit. This simulation is just to show and prove the coding and the LCD works well. However, this is just simulation. The real coding will be done and interface with the Arduino Uno.

Week 7

Title: Design Schematic Circuit

Objective: To design the circuit by using Proteus

Progress:
                This week, I started to design the full circuit of my project. This circuit will be the guideline of what components that I will be using for this project. This circuit will contain all the small circuits that I will combine to produce the full circuit. I design the circuit using Proteus 8. This version of Proteus can interface with the Arduino board by simulation.

Conclusion: 
 By the end of this week, I finally managed to get the full circuits of my project.

Week 6

Title: Project Budget.

Objective: To estimate the project costing of this project.

Progress:
                 This week, I survey the price of the components at the mudah.com and  electrical shop at Jalan Pasar. I produced a table of the main components that I will be using for this final year project 2. These main parts is the important parts of my project. The price is a little expensive but I consider this project's budget is still in budget and not over budget. Below is the list of the components and the main components that require in The Development of Portable Charger Using Wind or Water.

                

Conclusion: 
 As the conclusion, I managed to calculate the estimation of this final year project. Although I have not listed yet the other components such as the hardware to put the circuit but it  is not that expensive. So, I listed the main components first.

Week 5

Title: Block Diagram

Objective: To finalize the block diagram

Progress:
                This week, I decided to finalize my block diagram of this project operation. I will be using the same block diagram as the previous semester during my final year project 1. I decided the system that I proposed during final year project 1 is good and I need to proceed with the block diagram that I have already designed.

The system of my operation starts with the LM35 to detect the temperature. The fan  will turn on when the temperature reach 31 degree celsius. After that, the peltier cell will turn on when the temperature reach 32 degree celsius. Then, the fan and the peltier cell will turn off when the temperature drop below 30 degree celsius. For the LCD, the temperature will display at the LCD.




Conclusion: 
As the conclusion, by the end of this week I finally understand the concept and operation of my project based on this block diagram.

Week 4

Title: Flow Chart


Objective: To finalize the flow chart of this final year project.


Progress :
                 For this week, I need to finalize the flow chart operation of how my project's system going to work. The flow chart is the same as the flow chart I designed in the previous semester. 

Rechargeable Battery12v rechargeable battery are use. The battery can be charged and discharged many times. The battery act as accumulator and store energy through reverse electrochemical reaction

Peltier Cell: Thermoelectric device which can be a cooler by generating the electricity towards the Peltier. The Peltier consist of NPN semiconductor inside the Peltier and the process of heat transfer occur when the electricity are generated to it. 

Arduino Uno: This micro-controller type will read the speed of the generator based on the output given by the generator. This Arduino Uno will read the output voltage of the generator and converts it into speed of the rotor. There is some calculations for this type of method.

LCD Display: Then, The LCD display will be use to display the speed (RPM) of the rotor.

LM35The LM35 is an integrated circuit which output voltage are perpendicular to the temperature. In addition, the temperature sensor are calibrated in degree kelvin. 

12V DC Fan: 12V DC fan that are used for the development in order to absorb all the heat and to remove the cool air which are been converted by the Peltier. The material use for the fan are plastic which can withstand a high temperature.


Conclusion: By the end of this week, I managed to design the final flow chart flow chart of this final year project. The use of this flow chart is to make sure the operation of this project can be seen clearly.

Week 3

Title: Journals Revision

Objective: To do research and review on journals selected for this project

Progress:
               For this week, I review again each of the journals that I selected for the previous semester during final year project 1. The total of journals are 3 journals and 3 previous project that related to my final year project this semester. These literature review are very important because it helps me to do some more development on my project. I also used these journals to get the idea and inspiration to design my own portable cooling system. For the previous semester, I managed to go through all the journals and previous project reports but this semester, I reviewing deeper into these journals. I also consider of adding more journals to my literature review to help me with the construction of my final year project.


Conclusion: 
                    By the end of this week, I decided that the journals that I selected for the previous semester is good enough so that I can proceed with my final year project.

Week 2

Title: Gantt Chart

Objective: To ensure the work plan is implemented on time.

Progress:
                For this week,I need to design a Gantt Chart for this semester final year project. The Gantt Chart is quite similar to my chart on my final year project 1 but slightly difference. This gantt chart is to  providing a visual timeline for starting and finishing specific tasks. The main objective of this discussion is to catch up any progress that has been made for final year project 2 subject to the project supervisor. Simply, the content in this discussion is about the FYP assessment that should be made in term of the due date for submission, report format, report content and others. On the other hand, in order to fulfill subject requirement according to the date line given, a Gantt Chart will be created to make it as a guideline and to ensure all task complete on time.


Conclusion:
By the end of this week, I managed to design the Gantt Chart for this semester final year project to help me to do the project smoothly. All tasks related with the final year project will be refer on this Gantt Chart until the end of the deadline for final year project submission.

Week 1

Title: Meeting with supervisor

Objective: To discuss any additional features to be added

Progress:
                 For this week, I went to see my supervisor to discuss about any additional features that I should add to my final year project. I asked for my supervisor's opinions. She told me that adding new features is recommended but there are also the disadvantages. One of the disadvantages is either the new feature can make my final year project more complicated that myself are hard to do or is it compatible and suitable for my project. So, I told that my project is already good and ready to proceed for this semester. She told me to consider about adding new technology to my project.

Conclusion:
                    As the conclusion, I decided that I should proceed with the existing technology and method that I already prepared during final year project 1.
